Back to the brewery

Hey there! Well the blogging kind of fell off the radar for me. Why, you ask? Simple... I got laid off from my corporate job of 11 years. It was actually a great thing! Flash forward and the story is that I got to take the summer off and am now happy as a clam as a full time college professor.

So... my life is in order and the semester is well under way. I've been brewing and figured I may as well update this little record of brewing adventures!

Brewery Log - BrewDate 2/1/2007

I wanted to create an online area to post some recipes and track various concoctions that are being created or pondered by the gang at Chaos Brewery. Some basic info:
  • What is Chaos Brewery? - It's pretty much my house... primarily the back porch, kitchen, and basement as that is where all the exciting brewing action goes on!

  • Who is Chaos Brewery? - I guess you can think of me as the owner/head brewer. Sometimes I brew solo but I've got some brewmonkey friends who help and are learning the ropes whether they want to or not. I've got plenty of taste testers as well.

  • What do you brew? - A variety of ales, mead, and sometimes I mix up homemade rootbeer. I haven't gotten around to a lager yet.

  • What is mead? - Let's break it down: Beer is fermented grain, wine is fermented fruit, and mead is fermented honey.

That'll do for now although it should be noted that I started this blog while recovering from the terrifying events of 1/31/07.

Current Brewery Status: Winter Warmer and Irish Red in the kegerator; Belgian Phat Tyre conditioning in keg; regular old mead aging in carboy. Pondering: chocolate mead; Chimay Red clone.
